This CD was recorded in 1982 and released as an album the following year . The sound is warm-likely a result of the equipment used back in those days but also a reflection of the deep feelings of camaraderie felt among the three musicians. And the music stands up . It is as fresh today as it was in the early 80’s . Seasoned veterans Hinton and Rosengarden provide the solid rhythm so necessary to a debut album. Jay uses it to full advantage. he is verisatile, he is sensative, and he swings.

My first relationship with the music and playing of pianist Jay D’Amico came about when bringing “Ponte Novello” on CAP Records, his arrangements and performances of various Arias(Puccini, Bellini, Verdi, and others), to American Jazz Radio in 1999. After the first few moments, Jay’s touch at the piano and his sonic choices in the arrangements convinced me that I was hearing a true artist; this a personal impression after nineteen years in the national Jazz radio promotion business
